SMK KUALA KUBU BHARU

As the Member of Parliament of Hulu Selangor, I am fully aware of the current issue at SMK Kuala Kubu Baru and I am in touch with all concerned parties, including the authorities.

Let me categorically explain the issue before it is taken out of context by anybody who may have ulterior motives to politicise this issue.

I have been in contact everyday with the parents of the students concerned and they have admitted that the students returned the Interlok Malay literature book to the school at their instruction. I have requested the school to accept the books back from the students and this issue should be put to rest pending the decision of the independent panel set up by the Minister of Education and Deputy Prime Minister, YAB Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin. The panel would comprise linguists, academicians, literary figures and representatives of Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka as well as the representatives from the Indian community, who will study the types of amendments required and they would then submit their recommendations to the government.

The second issue is the accusation and counter accusation by the students and the teacher concerned on the use of threat and derogatory words between them. Both parties have made police reports with regards to this and the police is investigating the reports. I have full confidence in the ability of the police to investigate these reports and take the appropriate action against any party that has broken any rules of our country.

Until then, I wish to appeal to all parties to give the police some time to do their job without any pressure and bring to book the offending party or parties.

Dear YB,

The majority of the indians are not happy with the book...does it take that long to just remove the parts that are sensitive? In the name of 1Malaysia, this issue has to be addressed fast, or i can see the support for the BN and MIC , especially from the rural areas in the next GE, being eroded...

YB, the Ministry of Education should come clean from this and put to rest any doubts by declaring if the book conform to their own guidelines. If it doesn't, please dont waste our time and money. Remove the book. No politics, just honest action as per the current guidelines.

Derogatory words have been used against our children by one who was expected to educate our children and you think you have resolved the matter by brokering an exchange of apologies. A racist walks amidst our school in your constituency. Our children were taken away to the police station without their parents knowledge by an outsider. Why don't you deal with that.

Are you waiting to announce the withdrawal of Interlok just before the next GE? We can see that you are just a political opportunist. The book should have not been introduced as a textbook in the first place. Getting it withdrawn after so many months of talking just shows that the MIC has no clout whatsoever in the government.

So why bother voting for MIC, for if PR were in power, the book would be withdrawn immediately. Here, Indians are being made to grovel just to get UNO to withdraw an insult thrown at their faces. And for that we are supposed to be thankful. Surely, you must be able to do more than just kiss hands ?

Hello YB,

You still OK?
Just be straight forward....

DO YOU HAVE THE GUTS TO ASK THE TEACHER, HEAD MASTER or PIBG CHAIRMAN TO COME FORWARD AND APOLOGISE
