Karnival My Skills merupakan suatu usaha oleh Pasukan Petugas Khas Pelaksanaan di bawah Jabatan Perdana Menteri bersama-sama MIC (Wanita, Pemuda, Puteri & Putera) dengan kerjasama Kelab Bell Belia Tamil, Majlis Belia Hindu Malaysia dan Majlis Belia India Malaysia untuk membantu membimbing serta menempatkan belia India yang ingin mengikuti latihan kemahiran di bawah tajaan kerajaan. Kajian menunjukkan bahawa sebahagian besar iaitu lebih kurang 8,000 orang pelajar India yang menduduki SPM mendapat keputusan tidak memuaskan setiap tahun. Lebih mengejutkan lagi, kebanyakan pelajar-pelajar ini didapati tidak menyambung pelajaran/latihan kemahiran mereka sama ada di institusi kemahiran di bawah kerajaan mahupun swasta. Oleh itu, usaha ini berfokus untuk mempromosi kepentingan latihan kemahiran, sekaligus menjejaki pelajar-pelajar yang 'tercicir' ini dan menawarkan kursus latihan kemahiran bagi memastikan masa deepen mereka lebih terjamin.
Karnival My Skills 2011 berhasrat untuk menempatkan sekurang-kurangnya 5,000 orang pelajar India di Institusi-Institusi latihan kemahiran di bawah kerajaan. Ini secara tidak langsung dapat membantu meningkatkan taraf kehidupan 5,000 keluarga.

Yes it is true that the facts are correct. I’m also hoping for the Secretariat to come up with exact KPI (or tracer) for those Indian student whom have completed their skills training program. What are they currently into example their jobs or business ventured , upon completion of the skills training program they are enrolled into. I’m sure the truth will be very much interesting to read. Do hope our Indian leaders to sit in and analyze and to find solution to curb the problem. For your information , training or education should be able to empower any social communities , if these fails or the system itself doesn’t prove in providing the success rate will be the main reason why these courses are not preferred by many. There are few areas we need to sit and discuss
1. Concept of free training , what motivation does this bring to these students. Are we teaching the right things to our underachievers to come up in life by saying it is ok for you to fail. What example these students will lead to their siblings , that its ok to fail as far there is the government to give me free money to continue my studies.
2. What do each of these skills training center have to develop our youth. What type of programme , is it just enough to see program title without looking at the contents or the foundation program that comes along with it. Can it help to provide adequate basic knowledge of what we call as skills for life.
3. Skills training must also be followed by character building and embedded with change program
4. What type of concept we are using in order to develop their skills , appearance , social awareness and also their religious believes
5. What type of monitoring system , the quality assurance that these center has , their reporting ability to parents , students and also to government
6. How do they meet on the job requirements , and how this is being performed and measured
7. What type of tracer program they have and what type of help given in terms of finding right employment , business and also to keep track their movement.
The youth population is a valuable asset to this nation, thus it is necessary to develop and equipped youth with attitudes, knowledge and skills we need for our development and enable them to be stronger to face challenges in the future. In this context two issues are important;
(i) our system of education may need reorientation towards productive citizens and
(ii) (ii) our national politics and politician needs reorientation towards creating opportunities for employing educated mass to contribute to the national economy.
Youth everywhere set out in life with a dreams, hopes and aspirations. is Yet, these young men and women often face many challenges in the labor market. If young people are to be given opportunities, then multiple pathways to decent employment are needed. Achieving decent work for young people is a critical element in sustainable development, growth and welfare for all. There is growing evidence of a global situation in which young people face increasing difficulties when entering the labor force. Without the right foothold from which to start out, youth are less able to make choices that will improve their own job prospects and those of their future dependents. This in turn will perpetuate the cycle of insufficient education, low-productivity employment and working poverty from one generation to the next. Therefore, there is an urgency to develop strategies that aimed to give young people a chance to make the most of their productive potential. To conclude, youth development programs must continue to focus on developing the right attitudes and skills to ensure they get employment and contribute to the development of our 1 Malaysia concept.
