1ST PARLIAMENT SELECT COMMITTEE MEETING ON ELECTORAL REFORMS

The 1st meeting of the Parliament Select Committee (PSC) on Electoral Reform went on well with excellent inputs and participation from all members, not only we had 100% attendance but, the meeting was also held in a very good atmosphere without any 'mala-fide'.

We worked on the terms of references which was agreed upon by all members, following are the term of references which was agreed upon unanimously by all members;

1. Researching the rules and law of elections.
2. Reviewing the electoral process.
3. Improvement of the electoral roll.
4. Strengthening SPR's functions & requirements; and last but not least
5. What other alternative systems?

The PSC also agreed that we would seek public opinion via a road-show so that we can hear from various registered organisations and associations as well as individuals.

We also agreed on the following dates and locations;

For Selangor & Kuala Lumpur - it would be held on 11th and 12th November 2011, starting from 9:30 am @ Bilik Jawatankuasa 2, Bangunan Parlimen, Kuala Lumpur.

For Sabah - it would be held on 25th and 26th November 2011, starting from 9:30 am @ Bilik Kedah, Kompleks Pentadbiran Persekutuan Sabah, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

For Sarawak - it would be held on 8th and 9th December 2011, starting from 9:30 am @ Bilik Gerakan Negeri, Wisma Bapa Malaysia, Petrajaya, Kuching, Sarawak.

For the Northern Region of Malaysia - it would be held on 15th and 16th December 2011, starting from 9:30 am @ Dewan Sri Pinang, Lebuh Light, Pulau Pinang.

For the Eastern Region of Malaysia - it would be held on 7th and 8th January 2012, starting from 9:30 am @ Bilik Gerakan Negeri, Kota Darul Naim, Kota Bharu, Kelantan.

and last but not least;

For the Southern Region of Malaysia - it would be held on 12th and 13th January 2012, starting from 9:30 am @ Bilik Gerakan Tun Abdul Razak, Bangunan Sultan Ibrahim, Johor Bahru, Johor.

The PSC also unanimously agreed that more places could be added if there is a need upon requests made.
